She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years Paul (May, 2002), son Lawrence (October, 2004), infant son and four brothers. She will be greatly missed and forever loved by her three daughters, Gladys Melquist (Norm), Elsie Worona (Ed), Kathy MacPherson (Mac); son Eddy Sikora (Shirley); and daughter-in-law Eileen Sikora; grandchildren, Dennis (Marlene), Janice (Bill), Lorraine (Marv), Grant, Debbie (Bill), Randy (Shannon), Karen (Trevor), Wayne and Earl (Claudine); great-grandchildren, Clinton, Cristy, Vanessa, Kendra, Marcie, Brendon, Adam, Chelsey, Anthony, Alia, Deidter, Kaitlyn, Breanna and Graham; sister-in-law Katie Sytnick (Bob); and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was born in Brightstone, married Paul on June 23, 1934 and moved to Landerville where they farmed and raised five children. In 1988 they moved to the town of Lac du Bonnet. Her whole life was dedicated to hard work and welfare of her children and grandchildren. Betty was the most kindest, shy, loyal and unselfish lady. No matter how ill or what hardship she was encountering she always had a smile and said I'm okay . She was a wonderful cook and known for her homemade bread. We all gathered together, year after year, to enjoy holiday meals and later years her signature dishes were still a part of every family occasion. The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff at Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home for the excellent care and kindness to our mom. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 5 at 12:00 p.m. at Notre Dame du Lac Roman Catholic Church in Lac du Bonnet, MB with Rev. Fr. Mirek Szynal presiding. Interment will follow in the Lac du Bonnet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home, Box 1030, Lac du Bonnet, MB R0E 1A0 God saw you getting tired, So he gently wrapped his arms Around you and softly whispered Come to me .
