JACOB DYCK September 29, 1919 August 1, 2006 Jake was born in Schoenwiese, MB, the youngest child of Isaac and Maria (Friesen) Dyck. When he was three years old he migrated along with his family to Cuahtemoc, Mexico. He struck out on his own as a 16 year old, working a variety of jobs, but quickly realized that his passion was trucking. When he was 35, he returned to Canada, where, after a brief stint as a farmer, he took up trucking again. He soon met and married Amy Lemkey, a native Winnipegger. Together they had two children, Sharon and Larry. After living in Killarney, the Dycks moved to Transcona in Winnipeg, eventually settling in North Kildonan. In 1969 Jake started his own trucking company, which became Jade Transport. Larry and his wife Kim took over in 1984 when Jake retired. Throughout his life Jake had many interests, including carpentry, reading, flowers, and vehicles. He cherished time spent with friends and family. He and Amy attended Calvary Temple for over 50 years, where Jake served as an usher. The two spent many winters in Yuma, AZ. Jake was known as a very humble, patient, loyal friend who loved to make others laugh. He was a devoted husband and a fine example of a godly man to his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his wife Amy; daughter Sharon, her children Aaron, Amy and Adam Klassen; son Larry and daughter-in-law Kim, their children Jonathan, Robyn Sneath (Jason), and David; his sisters, Tina, Mary, and Lisa, and by the many others whose lives he touched. Funeral service and celebration of Dad's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 6 at Calvary Temple, Buntain Chapel, 400 Hargrave St. with Pastors H.H. Barber and B. Martin officiating. Interment to follow at a later date in Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Klassen Funeral Home Saturday, August 5 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Should friends so desire, donations may be made to Calvary Place, 400 Hargrave St., Winnipeg, R3B 3A8 or to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada, Franklin Graham Festival, c/o 400 Hargrave St. Winnipeg, R3B 3A8. Arrangements in care of: KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson - North of McIvor - 338-0331
