EILEEN ANNE SHARPE August 15, 1921 - July 21, 2006 Peacefully on Friday, July 21, 2006 at the age of 84 years, Eileen Sharpe passed away at Golden Links Lodge. Eileen was predeceased by her husband Russell, infant daughter Rosalind and son-in-law Patrick Hunt. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Gordon and Albert Dalman and her sister Hazel Fall. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gord (Christa), Dave (Elaine), Marilyn Wright (Robin), Rob (Nicole), Susan Hunt, Bill (Kathi), Brian (Patti), Don (Tracy) and Doug (Heather). She also leaves behind 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, her sisters-in-law Marg Dalman and Evlyn Dalman. Eileen was born in Winnipeg on August 15, 1921 to Stefan and Elin Dalman. Both sets of grandparents were Icelandic and she was very proud of her Icelandic heritage. Eileen grew up in the west end and graduated from Gordon Bell high school. After graduation she worked as a secretary until her marriage to Russell in 1943. Eileen met Russ while playing tennis, which they both enjoyed. It was to be a long love match. They were married for 52 years and were devoted partners and parents. Mom dedicated herself to her family. Raising nine children and keeping a busy household running smoothly took up most of her time. It was a Herculean task and she did it with incredible patience. When the children were all in bed, she would sit down at the piano and play beautiful music. She loved all kinds of music. Opera was her favourite and sparked her interest in learning new languages in order to read the librettos. Mom also loved to sketch. She was by nature a very creative and artistic person. Later on in her life, she took up gardening and bird-watching. Both Mom and Dad were very generous people. They would open their home to friends and relatives. There were often extra people at mealtimes, and they always opened their doors when someone needed a place to stay. Mom did an amazing job. It's difficult to imagine the hard work involved. She was a very good-natured person. We were lucky to have her as our mother. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Links Lodge for her excellent care over the last several years. Cremation has taken place. Donations in Eileen's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society. A private family ceremony will be held at a later date. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J.
