Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNETTIE SHKLANKA (nee BEYKO) Peacefully at the Riverview Health Centre on Thursday, August 3, 2006 Nettie passed away at the age of 87 years. Mom will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her sons, John (Pat) of Winnipeg and Peter of Regina, SK. She will be especially missed by her granddaughter Erin. Nettie was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Harry; her brother Walter Beyko of Kenora, ON and her sister Jessie Stirton of Guelph, ON. Nettie was born and raised in Transcona, MB. She obtained a teaching certificate at the University of Winnipeg and taught elementary school in rural Manitoba for a number of years before moving back to Transcona to raise a family. In her later years, she was a very active member of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, where she was quite involved with the Women's League and the Friendly Settlers Seniors group. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Riverview Health Centre for the compassionate care that they provided over the last number of years. Prayers will be held on Monday, August 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. A liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 8 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 400 Day St., with Rev. M. Krochak officiating. Interment to follow at the Transcona Cemetery. In Nettie's memory, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
