Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE MISURKA (nee ZAKALUK) Peacefully after a brief battle with cancer, Anne passed away in the early morning of August 5 , 2006 at Riverview Health Centre. Anne was born in Kamionki, Poland on December 12, 1925. When she was 12 she immigrated to Canada with her mother, brother and sister to join her father in Elma, MB where she spent most of her life. She married Max on October 23, 1943 and they enjoyed 55 happy years together. Anne will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Julie (Ken) Jacobs; granddaughters Krista (Ricky) Zimmermann and Joanne (Sean) Darams and great grandchildren, Jesse and Shandi Sinclair, Alyssa Zimmermann, Kurt, Joshua and Alexander Darams; her sisters Stella North, Marie (Mike) Felewich and brother Walter (Tena) Zakaluk; sisters-in-law Pauline Zakaluk, Dorothy Misurko and Ethel Misurka and brother-in-law Walter Misurka; cousins and numerous nieces and nephews and her special nephew Frank Misurka who spent his school holidays at the family farm. She was predeceased by her brother Morris Zakaluk. She was a kind and generous person, sharing her time and the handiwork she so loved to do with all of us. Her perogies and periska were legendary, they were so delicious! Mom always lent a helping hand, whether it was painting someone's home, giving a haircut or perm, babysitting or hemming pants. We can't remember her saying no . She would never refuse anyone nor did she ever expect anything in return. She especially enjoyed her family and was excited to travel twice to Australia to see her granddaughter Joanne, Sean and their boys. In Winnipeg, Anne loved her apartment community, making many friends in her block. She enjoyed gathering in the common room, visiting, crocheting and playing bingo. The family would like to extend their thanks to the caregivers at Riverview Health Centre for the kindness and care given to Anne. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with a reception to follow. Interment will follow at a later time in Holy Cross Cemetery, Elma, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made in Anne's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St. Wpg, MB R3C 2B7 or Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Ave Wpg, MB R3L 9Z9.
