DAVID SAWATZKY Peacefully on August 4, 2006 at the age of 75, David passed away at home surrounded by family. David is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lillian; children, Constance (Brian), Lloyd (Yvonne), Gerald, Jodi (Joe); and two grandchildren, Adrian and newborn Jonathan whom he had the opportunity to meet. He also leaves behind three brothers, Jake, Neil and Hank; three sisters, Elizabeth, Mary and Martha and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by parents, Anne and David; and sister Anne (Gerbrandt). He spent the majority of his working life at Border Chemical, retiring in 2003. He was known for his generosity and helpful nature. Much of his free time was spent socializing with family and friends. The family would like to thank the WRHA Palliative Care Program and the home care staff for their compassion and assistance in David's care. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 9 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin Ave. with Fr. Henryk Laciak officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7.
