JOHN THEODORE MILLER October 27, 1924 - August 5, 2006 With strength and courage John passed into the presence of the Lord on the 5th of August 2006 in Maple Ridge, BC where he resided for the last 20 years. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lorette of 24 1/2 years; children, Diane (Dennis), Cathy (Gary), Scott (Janet), Glen (Joan); stepchildren, Michelle (Mike), Andre (Laurie), Denys (Sandra), David (Susan) and 13 grandchildren. John was born and raised in Winnipeg an only child and developed life-long relationships with his cousins and neighbours in the River Heights area. From March 1943 to October 1945 John served in Canada and overseas as a Leading Aircraftman with the Royal Canadian Air Force. While residing in Winnipeg, John worked with Olivetti Canada as a leading salesman for 25 years. John married Lorette in 1982 and was lovingly embraced by her large and accepting family. He enthusiastically participated in all family get togethers and reunions, but most of all his life was centred around times he could be with his children and grandchildren. John brought joy and laughter to a room. We were blessed to experience his gentle warmth and great sense of humour. Golfing, curling, dancing, cribbage and scrabble games, avidly watching sports (of course adding his sport opinions) were all done with zest and enthusiasm. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to all the staff at Ridge Meadows Hospital for their care and compassion extended to John and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 5000, Maple Ridge, BC V2X 9Z9. Funeral prayers will be held Wednesday, August 9 at 7:00 p.m. in St. Luke's Catholic Church, 20285 Dewdney Trunk Rd., Maple Ridge, BC, followed by funeral mass, Thursday August 10 at 11:00 a.m. A memorial funeral mass and inurnment will be held at a later date in Winnipeg. While we mourn his passing others are rejoicing to meet him once again.
