ANNA EILEEN (SURGENOR) THIESSEN Died Saturday, August 5, 2006 at the age of 86. Born in Winnipeg on March 7, 1920, she was struck a hard blow when she developed osteomyelitis at age 6 requiring long hospital stays and surgeries until the age of 18. She refused to let the physical damage left by her illness limit her in any way and lived a full, very active life. After high school, she worked at Scott Bathgate until her marriage to Abe Thiessen in 1945. She loved baking, sewing, crocheting, gardening and playing a mean game of rummy-cube. She was predeceased by her husband Abe in 1993 and is survived by her children, daughter Linda (Peter) and sons, Terry, Gary (Najoua) and Bob (Jan), six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the caring staff at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for their excellent care. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 11 at 11:00 a.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, 276 Hugo St. North, Winnipeg, MB R3M 2N6.
