Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLASZLO IMRE FERENC PRZIBISLAWSKY October 23, 1923 August 8, 2006 After a brief but courageous battle with cancer, Lászlo Przibislawsky (Dr. Priz) passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, August 8 at the Stonewall Hospital with family by his side. Lászlo will be lovingly remembered by his wife Rose; his sister Ilona; his daughters, Judy (Jeremy), Márti (Jean-Pierre) and Csilla (Lindsay); his step-daughter Barbara (Wayne); his daughter-in-law Laryssa; his grandchildren, Elena, Ivannoé, Matéo, Jennifer, Adrian, Natalie and Matthew; his nephew Miklos and his niece Adrienne. Lászlo was predeceased by his first wife Eva; his son Lászlo; his step-son Chris, and his brother Ferenc. Lászlo was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary. He shared his 33rd birthday, October 23, 1956, with the day that marked the beginning of the Hungarian revolution against the communist regime. Ten days later he left his position as a neurologist, his mother, sister and country behind, and together with his wife Eva, he immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada. After completing his oral medical exams in his third language, English, he went on to complete his internships at the St. Boniface Hospital and later his general practitioner residency at the Misericordia Hospital. In 1962, Lászlo moved out to Woodlands, MB, together with Eva and daughter (Judy) to begin a rural practice there. In 1965, he again moved his family, now with the addition of a son (Lászlo) and second daughter (Márti) to Stonewall, MB. There he joined Dr. Beryl McQueen to form a two doctor practice at the Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital in Stonewall. During his 29 years of practice there, Lászlo made many contributions to the hospital and the community. The hospital, with its well trained cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and surgical team, soon became the pride of the province. Dr. Nabil Saad, who would become one of Lászlo's closest friends right up until his death, was amongst this team. In 1972, now the father of a fourth child (Csilla), Lászlo became the coroner and later the Medical Examiner of the district. In 1984 his wife Eva passed away and in 1987 Lászlo married his second wife Rose with whom he happily shared the remaining years of his life. After his retirement in 1992, Lászlo and Rose travelled extensively around the world. Lászlo had many outstanding qualities including a fearless and tenacious pursuit of everything he set out to do. He had great love for his family, his work, his pets and his hobbies. These hobbies included sailing, reading (he was a master in world history), chess, chopping wood, and downhill skiing (he was still skiing in the Rockies just five months ago at age 82). Lászlo had so much energy and vitality even in retirement, that there was little that he wouldn't attempt, including flying planes, hang-gliding and even learning to do a backward salto on a trampoline at the age of 75! Although a proud Canadian, Lászlo never lost his adoration for his lost homeland of Hungary. He was an active member of the Hungarian community in Winnipeg, to which he had made many important contributions. Darling, I could never express enough how much I will miss you, because I love you so much. God bless til we meet again. Papa, we thank you for all that you have done for us. We will continue to rely on your strength and wisdom for guidance. We will dearly miss your smile, your strong, cheerful voice and your dry wit. We have always looked up to you and were so proud to have you as our father. You will remain forever in our hearts, as will the countless memories of the beautiful times that we have shared. Lászlo's family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Respiratory section (ward H-6) at HSC, CancerCare, and most of all the Stonewall Hospital for their loving care. A service of remembrance will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 14 at MacKenzie Funeral Home, 433 Main St., Stonewall, MB, with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory to CancerCare, Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0B9. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements

Dr Priz took my tonsils out at age 7 and was my doctor for my early years. My mom and I were just talking about how wonderful he was, and I found this obituary. I wanted to reach out to tell you how much he was loved. I've never had a doctor I trusted more than him. - Posted by: Carol Thompson (Patient ) on: Mar 21, 2018
