LILLIAN EVELYN (LYNN) BROWN Born in Denton, England, passed from this life Monday, August 7, 2006. Lovingly remembered by her two sisters, Georgina Bourne and Vera Seed, both of England; her two sons, artists, Tony Brown of Paris, France and Michael Brown and his wife Evelyn, of Copperhill, TN; and her many friends in Winnipeg, her adopted home. Although she went back to England many times, she loved Winnipeg and returned to live out her life there. Lynn was described as an English Rose , a vivacious lady who loved to serve a proper tea. She was an avid golfer, curler and bridge player. She sold Real Estate in Winnipeg for over 25 years, tirelessly helping her community in doing the work she loved. Helping others was her mission, whether it was caring for her family, making sure other families found good homes, visiting and shopping for shut-ins, or greeting new members of her retirement community and making them feel welcome. Surviving The Blitz in London during the Second World War, gave her unbounded optimism that everything could and would become better. She lived life to the fullest, with joy and enthusiasm. She was a member of The Royal Signal Corps from 1939 to 1945. Each night she memorized a new coded alphabet, then sent messages in Morse code to the fighter pilots overhead. She would stay up and attend the Tea Dances in Brighton every other afternoon, so that she could sleep through the bombings the following day. Her philosophy in life is reflected by her choice of where she liked to sit in cafés during the war; it was dangerous to be by the windows in case of an explosion. However, that didn't stop her - she said she always sat by the windows, There were always plenty of seats available, and a much better view . In lieu of flowers her family asks that you take someone you love to lunch, or for a walk; enjoy the world around you, the flowers, birds singing, a beautiful sunset. Smile at someone you don't know, and tell them Hello! Let those you love know how much you love them. Lynn would like that! We are all only here for a little while. She will be missed.
