GIUSEPPE BARBARO It is with deep sadness that the family of Giuseppe announce his passing on August 8, 2006 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 74 years. Giuseppe is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Immacolata; sons, Tony (Maria), Frank (Karin); grandchildren, Andrew, Patrick, Alyssa and Olivia. Giuseppe is also survived by his family in Italy; brothers, Francesco (Pina), Salvatore (Anna), Cosimo (Laura) and sister-in-law Concettina. Sisters, Anna (Carmelo), Maria (Agostino), Catarina (Francesco), Pina Cuscuna and Rosa Alecci. He also leaves to mourn his extended family in Canada and in Italy including several brothers and sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews all who were very special to him. Giuseppe was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Elizabetta Barbaro and brother Leonardo. Dad was born on June 7, 1932 in Portigliola, Reggio Calabria, Italy. He immigrated to Canada in 1962 and married Immacolata in 1962. He worked for many years in the concrete industry until his retirement. Dad cared deeply for his family and raised his children with the same family values that he grew up with. Dad enjoyed tending to his garden, spending time with family and friends over a glass of wine, and his many summer vacations in Italy with Mom. His pride and joy were his grandchildren who always put a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eye. He will be truly missed by all who loved him. Our family would like to thank the staff at the Health Sciences Centre and St. Boniface Hospital for giving Dad the utmost in care and compassion. Prayers will be said on Sunday, August 13 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 14 at 2:00 p.m. also at Church with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano as Celebrant. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum at Assumption Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Domenico Zappia, Frank Zappia, Mauro Zappia, Frank Romano, Andrew Barbaro and Dino Alecci. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dad's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Suite 200-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 0L6, or CancerCare Manitoba, 1160-675 McDermot, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9.
