MOIRA WILSON CRAIG MCLEAN (nee BEST) Moira Wilson Craig McLean died August 3, 2006 in her 91st year. In the community of Shoal Lake, MB, in which she had lived happily all of her adult life, Mrs. McLean died at the Shoal Lake-Strathclair Hospital. She was predeceased (1981) by her husband Clarence McLean; by her parents, Dr. Robert Best and Mrs. Ann Best; her sisters, Mrs. Kathleen Ashley, Mrs. Mona Waugh and her brothers, Mr. Denis Best, Dr. Brian Best and Mr. Kevin Best. Also predeceasing her were Mr. Perry Waugh and Mr. Adrian Ashley. She is survived by some of the spouses of her brothers, Mrs. Jean Best and Mrs. Betty-Lou Best, both of Winnipeg, MB. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Linda Ashley (Langley, BC), Craig Ashley (Red Deer, AB), Jim Waugh (Calgary, AB), Bob Best (Winnipeg), Shelagh Pickard (Vancouver, BC), Pat Munro (Vista, MB), Nancy Ullenboom (Winnipeg), Judy Peters (Winnipeg), Rick Best (Winnipeg) and Michael Neil Best (Toronto, ON). She is further survived by the wonderful spouses and children of her nieces and nephews, Charlene Prickett, Cecile Ashley, Joyce Best, Bruce Munro, Les Pickard, Arpád Molnár, Ray Ullenboom, Marie Best and Bob Peters; and their children, Russell Peters, Allison Peters, Matt Ullenboom, Derek Ullenboom, Ryan Best, Megan Best, Heather Best (Hood), Raina Best (Dillon), Jane Munro, John Munro, Xanna Waugh, Andrew Pugh and Andrea Ashley; and wee Kate and Liam. She is further survived by her Shoal Lake Family of Doctors, Caregivers and Nurses at the Shoal Lake-Strathclair Hospital and the Morley House Personal Care Home, and Val Shepherd: all of whose daily ministrations helped her through the especially difficult months and years at the end of her life. She is also survived by her Killarney-Calgary family of Tennys and Pat Towey. Mrs. McLean was for a number of years a teacher in Shoal Lake, and a bookkeeper in her husband's business. She was able to retire early in life and enjoy harvesting the fields of literature and various word-games and puzzles. She was an active golfer and member of the Shoal Lake Golf Course. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Her release from this mortal coil was a blessing in light of her recent suffering and dimming prospects, but her death has created for some of us a huge void in the Universe. May she rest in peace.
