Doris was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary Choboter; her husband of 63 years Steve (2003); son Gerald (1991); brothers, George, Nick, Tom, Peter and Alix (6 months). She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Joyce (Joe) Marquette; grandchildren, Lori, Daryl, Randy (Suzanne), Shelley, Chad and his mother Kay Thomas; great-grandson Austin Lavallee; sisters, Kathleen (Bill), Shirley of Nanaimo, Francis of Burnaby; brothers, Erwin (Sylvia), Bob; sisters-in-law, Bernice of Kelowna, Rose, Alice; brother-in-law Mike (Nellie); sisters-in-law, Lena of Surrey, BC, Anne of Winnipeg, as well as several nieces and nephews. Doris was born in the small farming community of Sundown, MB. She married Steve Kostynyk of Arbakka, MB in 1940. Settling in Sundown, MB, they worked from sunrise to sunset on their 1/4 section mixed farm for 40 years. While Steve worked in the logging industry as well, Doris tended the farm. Doris devoted her entire life to her family. Her acres of vegetable and flower gardens were her pride and joy. Her homemade Ukrainian Cuisine was always a welcome at all family gatherings. In 1980 Doris and Steve moved to Steinbach, MB and resided there until May 2002 when they moved to Winnipeg to be near family. In April 2003, Steve passed away and Doris lived alone until September 2004 when she moved to West Park Manor. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to all the staff at West Park Manor, 1st floor for her care over the past two years. We would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Grace Hospital, 5th floor for their care and compassion during her very brief stay there.
