ALIDA TERRA (nee KENTER) May 7, 1917 August 12, 2006 It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Alida, of Lac du Bonnet, MB, at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home. Alida was predeceased by her loving husband Ted, of 57 years, on February 24, 1996. She leaves to cherish her memory, children Thea Anderstedt, Mia Fournier (Leo), Frank Terra (Pat) and Joanne Mulvihill; ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters and many nieces and nephews in Europe and Canada. Alida was born and raised in Amsterdam, Holland, where, as the oldest of a large family, she worked at an early age to help support her siblings. Mom was always a vibrant, hardworking and caring person. She will also be remembered for the courage it took to leave her home country and her family and friends to immigrate to Canada in 1953. She and Ted began a new life in Lac du Bonnet where they eventually opened their own business, Terra Auto Body Works. Mom was active with 4H, church bingo, and the Legion Ladies. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, knitting, crochet and a number of arts and crafts activities. Most of all, she enjoyed time with her family. The family would like to thank the staff at the personal care home and the doctors from the Lac du Bonnet Medical Centre for their loving and gentle care. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, August 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Notre Dame du Lac Roman Catholic Church, Lac du Bonnet, MB, with Fr. Mirek Szynal presiding. Interment will follow in the Lac du Bonnet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. • It may sound trite, but I've written and deleted this paragraph a dozen times so far, and the only thing I can settle on to sum all of it up is God Bless Nanny. - Posted by: Ted Terra (Grandson) on: Sep 16, 2014
