While at Brandon College, Betty met Hugh and they were married in 1945. They had been married almost 55 years at the time of Hugh's passing in 2000. After a short time living in Sarnia, Ontario, Betty and Hugh returned to Brandon. In addition to raising her family, Betty became active in the community. The latter included many happy hours working with her friends at the Nearly New Shop . In 1976, Betty and Hugh moved to Victoria, BC where they lived until 1993 when they returned home to Brandon. During their years in BC, they enjoyed many adventures on their boat The Wasagaming . They continued to come each year to their cottage at Clear Lake, a place that remained one of the great joys of Betty's life. Betty was able to spend time there this summer, enjoying her family and her many cherished friends at the lake . Betty was a devoted, loving and kind daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was also blessed with many dear friends, both lifelong and more recent. Their dedication throughout Betty's life, and especially in her last days of illness, is a testament to those friendships.
