DENNIS PATRICK KEOUGH Peacefully, on August 12, 2006, at the Health Sciences Centre, Dennis Keough passed away at the age of 59 years. Left with many fond memories are his father John Keough; sisters, Louise Mollot (Marcel), Maureen Houde and Janine Girard (Ben) and sister-in-law Peggy Keough; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces. Dennis was predeceased by his mother Helen Keough (1999); his sister Kathleen Klassen (1970); brother Jim Keough (1997) and brother-in-law Robert Houde (1998). Born October 27, 1946, Dennis lived in the Headingley area most of his life. He attended St. Charles Academy, St. Edward's Parochial School, St. Paul's High School and St. Paul's College. Prior to his accident in 1966, Dennis was an avid participant in many sports including curling, hockey, golf, football, and baseball. Despite being a quadriplegic, his enthusiasm for sports continued with his keen interest in hockey pools and following his team, the Montreal Canadiens, on television. He especially enjoyed time spent managing the Headingley Motor Inn Men's Senior B Fastball team. Many hours were passed working on his computer. His highly-developed computer skills allowed him to travel the world via the Internet. Dennis's life was a study in patience and perseverance. Each day was faced with humour and courage. His special gift lay in his ability to form and cultivate lasting friendships. Dennis especially appreciated the bond he had with his nephew, Kevin. His trips to Las Vegas with his brother, Jim, were also memorable. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 17 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles St., with Rev. Msgr. Maurice Comeault, P.H., V.F. presiding. Honourary pallbearers will be Wilf Taillieu, Russell Britton, Tony Mandzuik, Terry McIntosh, Bob Houston, Ken Bell, Charles Hatfield, John Hatfield, Ernie Ramstead, Randy Highmoor, Wayne Worrel, Stu Geith and the many other special people who were part of Dennis's journey that we have neglected to name. Active pallbearers will be Jamie Keough, Roland Mollot, Terry Baldwin, Marcel Houde, Dennis Girard and Gilles Girard. Our family would like to thank the many people who provided the excellent care that Dennis received at Ten Ten Sinclair Housing, the Focus Group at the Westwood Estates and from the WRHA Visiting Nurses. We are also grateful for the kindness shown to him by the staff at the Health Sciences Centre, particularly Dr. Karen Ethans. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Dennis's memory may be made to the Canadian Paraplegic Association, 825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5, or to a charity of one's choice. Dennis's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
