F. JEANNETTE GALE (nee HAWCO) Suddenly on August 11, 2006 at Health Sciences Centre. Jeannette was born on June 24, 1947 in Vancouver, BC. She grew up with her brothers, Bill (William) and Ray (Francis) in Newfoundland and Vancouver. Jeannette attended Nursing school in St. John's, Newfoundland, where she met her husband George. After they were married they moved to Durham, England where she studied and practiced midwifery. They subsequently moved to Trondheim, Norway and returned to Canada in 1975. They planned to move to Winnipeg for one year, but stayed to raise their family. Jeannette worked at various area hospitals including St. Boniface and Seven Oaks. She worked mainly in Labour and Delivery as a Midwife and retired from the Fetal Assessment Unit at St. Boniface in 2002. Jeannette enjoyed spending time with her children Katherine and Anthony, and her husband George. She loved to cook, garden, and had a great affection for her pets. Jeannette had a great wit, and a wonderful sense of humour. She loved to learn and had recently enjoyed attending the University of Manitoba. Jeannette took great pride in caring for others and always put others first. She was an excellent daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. Jeannette will be greatly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Jeannette was predeceased by her parents and older brother Bill. She is survived by her brother Ray (Christine); husband George; daughter Katherine (Gary); granddaughter Fiona; and son Anthony (Carrie). Thank you to all the staff at St. Boniface ED and the Health Sciences SICU for the excellent care and compassion provided to Jeannette during her last few days. A celebration of her life will be held at the family home on Friday, August 18 at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
