ROSE ELMA SCHULTZ (nee TOPNIK) Peacefully, on Saturday, August 12, 2006, Rose passed away at the Riverview Health Centre. Left to mourn Rose's passing are her loving husband of 62 years of marriage, Henry; children, Jeannette (Don), Dennis (Elaine) and Brenda Lee (David); grandchildren, Suzanne, Adrienne, Christopher, Maria, Jean-Marc, Danielle and Troy; brothers, Art and Gordon (Ruth); sister Olga; brothers-in-law, Art Schultz, Manuel Schultz (Gladys), Herb Schultz (Eileen), Leonard Schultz, Stanley Schultz (Elaine) and Jake Sachvie and sisters-in-law Elsie Topnik and Adeline Biedler; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, God-children and many great friends. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Lydia Topnik; brother Jake; sisters, Tillie and Lillie; brothers-in-law, Ted, Harold, Phillip, Reinhold, Arnold and sisters-in-law, Emily, Etta and Frieda. On June 4, 1923, Rose was born in Kleefeld, MB on her parent's farm. She went to Hochstadt School and helped on the farm. Rose worked at the Steinbach Hospital, until her marriage to Henry Schultz in 1944 and subsequently worked in Pilot Mound, MB. In 1946, Rose moved to Winnipeg, where she and Henry started a construction company, which continues to the present. Among her other accomplishments, Rose and Henry started and ran Steinbach's first A W Fast Food Restaurant, which was also one of the first in Canada. Rose enjoyed cooking, knitting, dancing, gardening, traveling, and shopping. She was a faithful member of her church, Lutheran Church Of The Cross, where she taught Sunday Church School, Vacation Bible School and was active in the Women's Group. Rose will be remembered for her generous hospitality, gracious entertaining and the great delight she took in playing with, teaching and spoiling her grandchildren. On Thursday, August 17 at 2:30 p.m., Rose's funeral service will be held in Lutheran Church Of The Cross, 560 Arlington St., with Rev. Dr. Frank Bahr officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Ave. Our family extends special thanks to Sandra, Sheila, Joanne and Kathy from Home Care and the entire staff on 3E at Riverview Health Centre.
