LOUIS JOHN TERMEER Lou was born October 9, 1916 and passed away peacefully on August 13, 2006 at the Concordia Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents Louise and John; his first wife Helen in 1972; youngest son Gordon in 1984; half-brothers Earl and Ernie and half-sisters Leone and Floretta. Lou is survived by his wife Doris, his son Lennard and daughters-in-law Daphne and Cheryl, sisters-in-law Margie and Viola (nee Wiesner), and Joan and Bev (nee Dean); also by many nephews and nieces. Lou spent his entire career with Famous Players Canadian Corporation. As a young boy, he was in the first row of the Tivoli Theatre when it opened, and he was house manager the day the theatre closed. As a young man he was an avid baseball player, excelled at billiards, curled, and was a long time member of Elmhurst Golf and country Club, where he recorded two of his three holes in one. After retirement, Lou and Doris spent many happy winters first in Florida, then California and finally at Ambassador Downs in Mesa, Arizona. The twelve winters in Mesa introduced them to a whole new circle of friends and it was here that he played shuffleboard, golf, and showed off his keen card sense at the bridge table. He was very comfortable at the piano, Hammond organ or electric keyboard, and he loved to entertain. If you knew the name of a song, chances were excellent that Lou could play it in his own special style. Lou also enjoyed teaching his son and his friends the finer points of playing billiards. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Thomson Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 16 at 2:00 pm with Reverend David Maynard officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot, R3A 1P6 or the Oddfellow and Rebekah's Afflicted Children's Fund c/o John Howell, 6 St. Clair Blvd. Winnipeg, MB R2C 0V1 Thomson Funeral Home 669 Broadway - 783-7211 www.thomsonfuneralchapel.com
