ANNE (ETHEL) MOUNK
Born: Apr 16, 1923
Date of Passing: Aug 13, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE (ETHEL) MOUNK After a brief final struggle with Alzheimer's, Ethel passed peacefully away on Sunday, August 13, 2006. In her final hours, Linton spoke to her of those already waiting for her with the coffee on her loving husband Larry, predeceased in 1998; her parents, James and Ann Murray; sister Dorothy; and brothers-in- law, Emil and Ken. Ethel's passing is mourned by many. Her family include son Linton (Rhonda); daughter Karen (Lou) Penney; grandchildren, Erin and Dale; sister Mary; and many nieces and nephews. Ethel was born on April 16, 1923. She was a vibrant and outgoing young woman employed by Eaton's and President of the Manitoba Chapter of Stagettes. She received a citation from the Red Cross for her exemplary volunteer efforts. After breaking the hearts of many suitors, Ethel fell in love with and married a young man she met with her friend Terry at a dance in Keewatin. (Terry married the other!) Ethel and Larry were married in October 1954 and the two young couples lived their lives side by side. Linton and Karen recall many memories of this, especially travelling and camping at Blue Lake where their cousins often joined them for great adventures. Ethel and Larry had a camp at Pickeral Lake. For it was always called that. They spent many satisfying years there blueberry picking, feeding wildlife, fishing and being with lifelong friends such as Ron and Doris and many others who meant so much to them. At home in Winnipeg, Ethel would spend Thursday mornings at Eaton's for the regular weekly gathering, where conversation and the best bargain of the day was the agenda. She enjoyed the friendships born from THE JUGS (Just Us Girls). The card games, the food and wine, with an occasional cigar were something she looked forward to always. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 17 (today), at 11:00 a.m. in the Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St, Winnipeg with Rev. Brad Elliott officiating. Interment of ashes to follow at a later date in Kenora. Over the years, Ethel's family has had support from many and we thank you all for what you have done. Special acknowledgement must be given to the neighbours on Crofton Bay who were there when we could not and always kept that watchful eye. Ethel's caregivers at Rosewood Village and most recently at Kildonan Personal Care Center were wonderful. Thank you. We wish to express thanks to Rob at Gilbart Funeral Chapel for all he has done. In lieu of flowers, the family request a donation in memory of Ethel to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
