GARY LORNE MORRISON April 1, 1955 - August 14, 2006 As a result of an accidental fall at work, Gary Morrison passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on Monday, August 14, 2006 at the age of 51 years. Resident of Teulon and originally from Gordon district in Rosser Municipality, Gary leaves behind, with so many great memories, his beloved wife of 26 years, Ruth, daughters Joanna and Jamie, parents Mary and John (Charles) Morrison and brother Robert Morrison (Rosser Municipality), sister Shirley Collins and husband Pat, niece Lindsey (James) and son Chaz Collins (Drayton Valley, AB), grandmother Anne Myska (Winnipeg), and many dear aunts, uncles and cousins. Gary was a generous, loving, caring and devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend to so many. Amongst other things, he will be remembered for his playful sense of humour, his willingness to help anyone in need and his love of building, repairing and taking care of things. As a carpenter, he was careful, patient and meticulous. He built homes throughout the Interlake, but was also particularly good at balancing family and work, and he, Ruth, Jamie and Joanna spent considerable time travelling, camping and relaxing. His family meant everything to him, and he participated fully in all aspects of home. He had a passion for fitness and exercise, including cross-country skiing, bicycling and more recently, running marathons. He was very creative: from wood, he carved graceful birds; in the winter, his whimsical snow sculptures sprouted from the lawn; and all year, the pergola he built was the focal point of the back yard. He was wonderful, funny and entertaining in his letters, and while he had a quiet personality, in the occasional public speech, he was warm, articulate and insightful. A celebration of Gary's life will be held at the Teulon Rockwood Centennial Centre on Friday, August 18 at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are in the care of Mackenzie Funeral Service, 467-2525. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff of Gimli Hospital, the Health Sciences Centre Emergency Ward and S.I.C.U., neighbours, friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
