ELSIE BACHMAN (nee STOBERT) September 19, 1917 August 15, 2006 Peacefully on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 Elsie passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at Misericordia Health Centre. She is survived by her loving daughter Lorraine; granddaughters, Brenda (Dwayne) and Barbara (Howard); great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Allan-James and Alex; her sisters, Erna (Jack), Mary (Clarence) and Velma; brother Harry (Kay); and friend John; also numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Herman; by her daughter Emily; sons-in-law, Allan Varnes and Ken Peters; her brother Ervin; sister Ruth; and her parents, Fred and Nettie Stobert. Elsie was born in Charlottenberg, Germany and arrived in Canada at the age of seven. She grew up in Beausejour, MB where she met her husband Herman and later moved to Winnipeg. Elsie was a very hard worker whether it was on the farm, at work or at home. Her true passions were working in her vegetable and flower gardens, knitting and creating beautiful crochet pieces and spending time with her three great-grandchildren. Her kitchen was always open for family and friends. It is here that she enjoyed many special moments. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff at Misericordia Health Centre - Cornish Ward, who helped make Mom's last days as comfortable and dignified as possible. Thank you to all our relatives and friends for your support, encouragement and visits. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 19 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Green Bay, MB with Pastor Hugh Laidlaw officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dwayne, Howard, Harry, John, Ron and Herb. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations may be made in Elsie's memory to St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Green Bay, MB or CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
