KATHLEEN LACEY Peacefully, on August 15, 2006, Kathleen passed away at the Tuxedo Villa Care home at the age of 85 with her family at her side. She is survived by her daughter Jean, husband Wayne, grandchildren, Kyle and Corey; daughter Cathy, husband Eric, granddaughter Ruby; son Gary, wife Susan, grandchildren Shaunna and Devin. She was preceded by her husband George and son Ken. Kay was born December 7, 1920 in Esterhazy, SK and was born premature on a small farm where the doctor told her mother that her odds of survival were very slim. She was so small that her mother had to use an eyedropper to feed her, and she miraculously overcame the odds and survived to live a full life. She later attended a small country school and achieved her grade 12 diploma. She enlisted in the Armed Forces (Royal Canadian Air Force) from 1943 to 1945 where she was a parachute rigger. Shortly after, she met her late husband, George Lacey. They were wed on August 22, 1945 and made Winnipeg their home. She was a devoted Catholic and attended Saint Pauls The Apostle Perish. She was happy with the simple things in life and known for her wit and positive outlook. Her talent for knitting and crocheting provided many beautiful sweaters and doilies which she loved to make in her spare time. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Our thanks go to the people who made her comfortable during her last few days with us. Funeral to take place on Friday, August 18, at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715

  • Aunt Kay was absolutely one of my favorite Aunts. She was always welcoming with a big smile whenever we visited her and Uncle George. I will always have fond memories of her and Uncle George. Stuart Reed (wife Holly) - Posted by: Stuart Reed (nephew) on: Mar 24, 2018
