ETHEL MAE PHILLIPS (nee TURNER) Peacefully, on August 13, 2006, Ethel Mae Phillips passed away Donwood Manor in Winnipeg, MB. Mae was born on April 11, 1910 in Portage la Prairie, MB. She was predeceased by her husband and soul mate Norman; son Ronald; daughter Darline; granddaughter Linda; sister Nora; and brother Bob. She is survived by her sister Eleanor; her grandchildren, Jayson, Shannon, Cade (Sandy), Norman, Sherri, Ronald, Joseph, Darryl; and her many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mae and Norman loved the outdoors. They enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and were members of the Wally Byan Airstream Club for more than 20 years. Mae was an exceptional knitter and sewer and an amazing cook. She was also an amazing athlete in her younger years and won many awards. There wasn't a visit or phone call with the boys that Grandma didn't mention the latest hockey or baseball game. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). Interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre, with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Special thank you to the staff of Donwood Manor for the care and compassion to Mae during her stay. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Cancer Society of Manitoba.
