JOHN DOWNES On Tuesday, August 15, 2006, John Downes, aged 90 years of Salem Home in Winkler, MB passed away peacefully at his residence. John was an only child born to John Percy and Nellie Downes on June 22, 1916. He was raised on the family farm near Sperling, MB and farmed there for many years prior to his retirement to Carman, MB. Due to health reasons John eventually moved to Salem Home in Winkler, MB where he resided until his passing. Left with memories of John are longtime friends and neighbours. Special thanks to Bob Gibson for all his efforts on John's behalf. Thank you to the wonderful staff of Salem Home for all of the excellent care and love that was shown to John during his stay. We know John certainly appreciated everything. A graveside service for John Downes will take place from the Sperling Cemetery on Saturday, September 9 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Salem Home, 165 - 15th Street, Winkler, MB R6W 1T8 or to a charity of your choice.
