JEAN WINNIFRED TATE (nee HAMILTON) We are sad to announce the passing of Jean Winnifred Tate (nee Hamilton) our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a wonderful person whose life touched those of many others in ways too numerous to describe. Left to treasure countless memories are her children, Jack (Vicky), Nancy (Pat) and Sandra (Mark); grandchildren, Chloe and Liam, Danielle and Ryleigh, Matt and Josh; brother Gerry (Bertha); sisters, Marion and Alice (Ken); in-laws, John, Ross (Verna) and Norma (Bob); as well as her lifelong friend Frances Ballingall and family and a host of much loved nieces and nephews. Mom was a people person. There was never a time when she was too busy to help out a friend, a family member or even someone that she didn't know. This spirit was best reflected by her many years of service with Variety Club of Manitoba. Jean was a constant source of inspiration and support to the Variety kids and their families. Together with her good friend Marley, she co-produced many successful Variety telethons. Jean was predeceased by Keith her loving husband of 47 years; sisters, Joey and Helen; and brothers, Don and Fred; sisters-in-law, Audrey Grant and Sheila Alcock; and brother-in-law George Grant. Sunday dinners, gathering in the gazebo and time spent with family, friends and neighbours created the memories that we will cherish forever. Although Mom's last year has been her battle, she spent it at home exactly where she wanted to be, surrounded by 56 years of life on Clare Avenue. Special thanks to the staff on 5th floor north, Victoria Hospital, especially Margaret and Heather, both nurses and credits to their profession, to Sandy from G-PAC, our rock and some incredible neighbours who always watched out for Mom. A celebration of Mom's life will be held on Monday, August 21 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Variety Club of Manitoba, 611 Wellington Cres., Winnipeg, MB R3M 0A7.
