Alfa passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at the Gimli Community Health Centre. She was predeceased by her parents, Bjarni and Gudridur; sisters, Halldora, Gwen, Sena (Oli Kristjanson); and brothers, John B. (Alice) and Harry. Alfa is survived by her brother Barney and sister-in-law Eleanor, brother-in-law Oli Narfason; sister-in-law Dorothy Johnson, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Alfa was born on July 11, 1927 in Riverton. She worked at the Gimli Betel Home for 20 years, retiring due to health reasons. For the last 16 years Alfa resided at the Betel Home. She enjoyed all the card games, bingos and long conversations and coffee with family and friends. Alfa always had a kind word for everyone and always took a keen interest in her family. Although Aunty Alfa had no children of her own she held all her nieces and nephews very close to her heart. We were all very fortunate to have the opportunity to be surrounded by her love every time we were with her. The family would like to extend gratitude to the Gimli Betel Home staff and the many volunteers for their kindness and support to Alfa. A very special thank you to Dr. R. C. Patel for his continued care and compassion over the years, and also to the excellent staff at the Gimli Community Health Centre. Goda nott Elskan As per Alfa's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date at the Riverton Community Cemetery. If family and friends so desire donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
