MARY FRANCES SMITH (nee BOWMAN) Peacefully on August 12, 2006, Mary Frances Smith passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital with her family and friends at her side. Frances leaves to cherish her memory her husband Laurence Larry and son Paul (Valerie). She is also survived by her brothers, James (Dolores), David (Annette) and Burton (Jean); sisters-in-law, Thora Smith and Valerie Bowman; and many nieces and nephews. Frances was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Muriel Bowman; brother George; mother-in-law Mabel Smith; and brother-in-law Gordon Smith. After receiving her degree in Education (B.ED.) from the University of Manitoba, Frances taught at Fort Rouge, Lord Nelson and Meadows West schools. She was loved by the children in her classes and received several letters and cards of appreciation from parents as she influenced many young lives. A special thanks is extended to Penni, Pat and Kathie for their devotion. Cremation has taken place and there will be a small service in the chapel of St. John's Cathedral, 135 Anderson Ave. on Monday, August 21, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the columbarium of the Cathedral.
