EDITH DOROTHY HARGREAVES (nee MCINTOSH) Peacefully with her family by her side, Edith passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at the Golden Links Lodge. Edith will be lovingly remembered and cherished by her husband of 55 years, Leslie; daughters, Leslie Lynn and Linda Lea (Rene) and her two grandsons, Ryan and Kyle. Edith was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Elizabeth McIntosh and her siblings, Isabelle and James. Edith was born on August 14, 1928 just three weeks after her parents arrived in Winnipeg from Scotland. Edith met Leslie while bowling one evening and he asked her if he could walk her home. They married two years later on June 30, 1951. Mom worked at the T. Eaton Co. for over 10 years and then took on the role of raising her two daughters. Mom then decided to continue her education with a focus on children. Mom loved her next career role at the South Winnipeg YMCA as she loved working with children. Mom did many volunteer roles throughout her life. While her girls were in Girl Guides, Mom became a Girl Guide Leader. During the years her grandsons attended Lavallee School, Mom volunteered as a teachers helper. Mom's greatest joy was her family. Mom loved her time with her family at the cottage at Red Rock Lake. Mom was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will always be in our hearts and remembered as honest and dedicated to her family. The family would like to thank the staff at the Golden Links Lodge for all the love and compassion they have given to Edith and our family during the past four years. Golden Links became her home and the staff were like her family. A celebration of Edith's life will be held on Wednesday, August 23 at 7:00 p.m. at the Golden Links Lodge, 2280 St. Mary's Rd.
