NELLIE HRYCYK The family of Nellie Hrycyk sadly announce her sudden, but peaceful, passing on August 16, 2006 at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre at 92 years of age. She is survived by daughter Iris Taraschuk (Henry); son Terry Hrycyk (Linda); sisters, Mary Naduriak, Olga Maranduk, Pauline Slowski (Peter), Alice Swainger; brother Michael Kitchen, and sister-in-law Ann Kitchen. Baba , as she was affectionately known as by young and old, will also be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Les (Karen), Sheldon, Angie (Blair), Shannon (Don), Jason (Tanya), Pam (Wayne), and great-grandchildren, Mark, Lauren, Brody, Logan, Troy, Sarah, Braydon, Rhett, Kian and Grady. Baba was born in Canora, SK in 1914, where she spent her childhood years on the family farm. Upon marriage in 1938 she moved to Lenswood, MB where she farmed with her husband Alex, and later operated a hotel in Birch River, MB. Baba then pursued a hairdressing career in Regina until retirement. Moving to Winnipeg in 1999, now closer to her family, she remained independent in her own residence until 2005, when she entered the Kildonan Personal Care Centre. Throughout her years, Baba enjoyed bingo, playing cards, knitting, crocheting, reading, travelling and spending time with her family and friends. Nellie's family would like to thank the staff at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their care over the past nine months. Funeral service to be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., on Monday, August 21 at 11:00 a.m., viewing commencing at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation.
