JOHN (JOCK) INGLIS

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (JOCK) INGLIS April 18, 1920 August 20, 2006 John was born in Winnipeg on April 18, 1920 and spent his early years in Sturgeon Creek. On September 6, 1939, he joined the 12th Field Co., R.C.E., and left to serve in England in January, 1940. He later joined the 31st Field Co., R.C.E., and saw service in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He returned to Canada in 1945 and served 6 years with the 6th Field Co., R.C.E. Militia. Jock was proud to be a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Winnipeg No. 1 Branch and was the oldest living member. His service with the legion covered 50 years, including 29 years on the executive and 2 terms as President. He was made a Life Member in 1972 and was awarded the L.M.S.M. in 1981. He enjoyed the comradeship, curling, golf and fishing with other Branch members. John was a printer and publisher until his illness in 1968. John married his wife, Pat, in England in 1941. He was predeceased by his father, mother and sister, Jean. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Pat; sons, Gary (Muriel) of Winnipeg and Mel of Comox, BC; daughter Sandy (Michael) of Dauphin; grandchildren, Kim (Matthias) of Kimberly, BC and Jason of Winnipeg; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Jacob; and sisters, Betty Tronrud of Winnipeg and Ethel of the U.S.A., as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at St. Saviour's Anglican Church, 690 Munroe Ave., 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 24, with Rev. Richard Condo presiding. A private family interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. In John's memory donations may be made to the Sick Visiting Fund, No. 1 Legion, 626 Sargent Ave., Winnipeg, R3E 0A3.
