MARIE LUCINDA MCCRAE (nee GREENE) February 15, 1927 - August 17, 2006 Quietly, during the evening of August 17, 2006, Marie passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital. Marie was born in Winnipeg, the second of four daughters born to William and Mary Greene. Predeceased by her husband David McCrae on January 10, 1995, Marie is survived by her sisters, Irene Derrett (Walter), Toronto, ON, Gail Isaak (Rudy), Winnipeg, Patricia Hunter (Robert), Olds, AB; nephew and nieces, Gregg Derrett (Karen), Kelly Derrett, Pamela Isaak (Greg Kiessling) and Paula Isaak; greatnephews and niece, Logan and Cameron Derrett, Gillian and Oliver Kiessling; several cousins, notably her cousin Ruth Moore, who provided care, friendship, and support during the last several years along with Marie's special friend Earl Harris. Marie attended Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute and Angus Business College. For 38 years, she was employed as President's Executive Assistant at Standard Aero Engines Limited, where she met her husband David McCrae. She formed many lifetime friendships at Standard Aero and following her retirement on June 1, 1990, she became an enthusiastic member of the SAE Retirees Group. For many years Marie was a volunteer at the St. Agnes Nearly New Shop. She also was a member of, and served on the Board of the Antique Arts Club of Winnipeg. Perhaps Marie's greatest pleasure was spending time at her cottage at Echo Bay, Lake of the Woods, where she enjoyed entertaining many friends and family while watching her beloved loons and spending many hours with her pet Danny . A memorial service will be held at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, on Thursday, August 24 at 11:00 a.m., followed by private inurnment at Green Acres. Cremation has taken place. Marie's family would like to thank her many lifetime friends who supported her during the difficult progression of her illness. Thanks also to Dr. Sharkey for his compassionate care and the caring staff at the Victoria Hospital throughout the past few months.
