EDWIN (ED) GERALD REIMER
Born: Dec 05, 1953
Date of Passing: Aug 20, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWIN (ED) GERALD REIMER Suddenly, in his sleep, on August 20, 2006, Ed Reimer of Gimli, has died. He is predeceased by his parents, Klaas B. and Frieda and one brother Johnny. He is mourned by his wife Sandy and children, Chris (Lori), Sherri (Darren), Jason (Marlow), Maegen and Lawrence. He will be missed by his most treasured grandchildren, John, Michael, Carmen, Kailee and Edwin, who were the light of his life. He is also mourned by his siblings and their children, Levi (Tena), Bill (Teena), Daniel, Ruth (Steve), Henry (Shelley), MaryAnn, Irene, Shirley and Christine. He is survived by his sister-in-law Barb (Bob); mother-in-law Audrey and Sherri and Jason's mother Marlene (Denis). His campground family at Great Woods Park in Beausejour will miss his weekend rounds on his golf cart. Ed was born on December 5, 1953, the first of K.B. and Frieda's children to be born in the Interlake where they pioneered in the Menville area. He attended school at Menville School. He started working around the age of 17, leaving home at the age of 19. His passion for trucks, machinery, and roaming the country led him to Northern Ontario where he earned the CB handles of Fast Eddie and White Lightening , for those quick trips through the bush roads. He returned to Manitoba to Ile Des Chenes, eventually moving back to the Interlake where he met and married Sandy in 1993 and they raised the Brady Bunch . Even though ED professed to be shy, wherever he went, he was usually one of the last to leave and has spoken to most people in attendance. He loved a bargain, garage saling and long trips with company along. His family was the center of his life. Ed's health became what he called the plague in 1991 when his body started showing the ravages of diabetes. His inner strength (some would call it stubbornness) carried him through those difficulties. He did not dwell on himself but supported his family's life challenges with a helping hand or advice. He thrilled in his role as Grandpa. The family would like to extend thanks to the Beausejour RCMP and EMS personnel and Janet at St. Boniface for their assistance on Sunday. The funeral services will be held in Gimli on Friday, August 25 at 1:30 p.m. at the Gimli Park Pavilion (follow the red balloons), followed by interment at the Gimli Community Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bob Andruschak, Bob Thordarson, Peter Brandt, Zeph Wiesenthal, Les Scoonmaker, Doug Thordarson, Bob Johnston and Al Johnson. All of Ed's friends can consider themselves honourary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Fund. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli, in charge of arrangements.
