Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNICHOLAS CZAPLYNSKY After a lengthy illness and with his family by his side, Nicholas Czaplynsky passed away peacefully on Monday, August 21, 2006 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 86. Nicholas was born July 31, 1920 in selo Bereziw Wyznyj, near Kolomyja, Ukraine. He immigrated to Canada in 1948, and in 1951 he married the love of his life and soul mate of 55 years, Helen, nee Kologinski. Nicholas will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife; his daughter Barbara and husband Joe Pede of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Christopher Young and wife Aubrey-Ann, Adam Young of Wales, UK, Jennifer Sparling, Stephen Sparling and Michael Pede of Calgary, AB, and Michael and David Sampson of Oakville, ON; numerous family members, neighbours and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Deborah, brother Anton and his parents. Nicholas' greatest passion was his family and with his love and devotion, there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for them. He also loved nature and tending to his garden and flowers. He enjoyed to travel and his fondest memories were with his wife in Hawaii. Nicholas was an amazingly talented tailor and designer. For the majority of his career, he was employed by Eaton's until his retirement. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of GA-4 Ward at the Health Sciences Centre for their care of our Nicholas. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 24 at St. Basils' Ukrainian Catholic Church, 202 Harcourt St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 25, also at the church with Fr. E. Hafichuk officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if family and friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity or foundation of one's choice.
