Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN ENNS A Mom, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, and Friend passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord on August 21, 2006 at the Riverview Health Centre. Helena Dueck, the oldest child of Peter and Sara Dueck, was born on April 3, 1922 at Albergthal Village, Altona, MB. She was predeceased by her husband Ben and a son Bruce; her parents, Peter and Sara; a brother Thomas; one sibling in infancy and two siblings in childhood. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Joyce (Art) Morrow and Don (Deena) Enns. She will also be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Farrah (Matthew) Hicks, Olivia (Anthony) Lisa, Shawn Morrow, Ashley Enns and Samantha Enns; and two special great-grandchildren that made her eyes light up - Elliott and Isabelle Morrow-Lisa. Other family members left to mourn her death include her sisters, Elizabeth, Maria, Sally (Wilbert), Kay (Jim) and Anna; along with her brothers, Henry (Gertrude), Peter (Hammy) and John (Verna). Helen was raised on her parents' farm near Altona where she attended school until the family and farm workload forced her to stay home. She married Ben Enns on May 30, 1948 at Gretna, MB. They moved to the Oakville area where they farmed and raised their three children. Along with doing her part with the family farm, she also held jobs off the farm including Campbell Soup and Canadian Forces Base Portage. Helen retired from CFB Portage at the end of March 1987 at which time she moved to Winnipeg. Helen had a love for travel and fulfilled her dreams in her retirement. She always had a strong work ethic which continued to display itself into her retirement when she became involved in the social committee in her apartment block. She always kept busy by helping friends and family and was deeply loved by those who knew her. Her family was the most important thing to her and she left them with a legacy of hard work, honesty and integrity. Helen had an independent spirit with a zest for life and an enthusiasm to live, to be and to do what she chose to. Her personal faith in Jesus was obvious to anyone who knew her and this same faith prepared her for her death. Interment will take place on Friday, August 25, at 11:00 a.m. at the Oakville Cemetery followed by a memorial service and celebration of Helen's life at Sterling Mennonite Church, 1008 Dakota Street, Winnipeg, MB, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor John Wiebe officiating. A reception will follow. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Special thanks to caregivers, friends and family for their care, visits and acts of kindness over the past seven months.
