Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS SMALL (nee JOHNSTON) July 17, 1915 - August 14, 2006 Phyllis, a courageous woman with an amazing strength of spirit, has now entered into her heavenly sleep. Phyllis was a woman of determination and no matter what challenge she faced or how difficult things became, she always looked on the bright side of everything. Her positive attitude and ability to speak on any subject endeared her to many in her elderly years. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Phyllis moved to a farm near Beausejour after her marriage to Fred, with whom she enjoyed 50 years together. She loved her family and delighted in the accomplishments of her children: Barbara (Leanne, David and two great grandchildren), Doreen (Ken, Don, three great-grandchildren), Naida (Kevin, Carla, Chris, five great-grandchildren), Lorna (Stephen, Michael), Robert (Clint, Kevin, five great-grandchildren), Doug (Trevor, John) and Jacque. She is survived by her sister Roberta; and was predeceased by one sister and brother, Doreen and Russell. After an active community life that involved the senior's group, the church and a keen interest in politics, Phyllis moved to Vancouver in 1992. She was willing to take on whatever came her way, from wilderness camping at 77 to riotous games of noodle hockey that could launch her out of her wheelchair at 90. She has left us all with one very important message, Attitude is Altitude; independence, positive thinking, creativity to make the best of what you have is a recipe for a full and happy life. A special thank-you to Jacque and Jean for caring for her in her golden years. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 31 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Church in Beausejour, MB, 730 James St.
