BERNARD BLANCHETTE July 11, 1947 - August 25, 2006 Bernie passed away peacefully at home on August 25 surrounded by his loving family. Bernie will be truly missed by his wife, Claudette; children, Andrea, Nicole (Todd), Roger (Jody) and his precious grandchildren Samantha, Cody, Devin, Cole, Sydney, Dion, Logan and Tyler; as well as his seven brothers and in-laws, family and friends. Bernie enjoyed fulfilling careers as a hockey player and RCMP. He had many passions, he was an avid hockey player, golfer and fisherman. Papa loved to spend time with his family. He built his dream cabin at Turtle Lake where he enjoyed many visits from family and friends. Big thank you's to Dr. Garry Schroeder, nurse Kim Paradoski; the caring staff in the oncology, MRI, CT and Radiation Units at Health Sciences Centre and CancerCare Manitoba. Also to all the family and friends who prayed, supported, encouraged and visited over the past four years. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Adolphe Catholic Church, 402 Main Street, St. Adolphe, MB. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Bernie's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
