Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET B. CURRY (Gray) B.A. 1914 - 2006 In death on August 27, 2006, we celebrate a wonderful life. Margaret Ballantyne Cochran Gray was born in Winnipeg, December 7, 1914. Her parents, William and May Gray, newly from Scotland, never lost their delightful Scottish accent. Margaret was mentor to three active brothers, Dr. Archie (deceased), Victoria BC, Bill and Ken, Winnipeg, MB and delighted in the many activities and contacts over the years with the fourteen very creative nieces and nephews. After graduating from the University of Manitoba and Business School, Margaret worked for Winnipeg Grain Exchange - quite an experience. Margaret and Bill Curry were married in Winnipeg on July 24, 1942 after a Victoria Beach courtship. A honeymoon via ship and train took them to new jobs in Montreal, Quebec. Wartime in Montreal was a very busy and interesting city. Quite a change from quiet Winnipeg! The arrival of daughter Susan Elizabeth on October 28, 1944, an exciting move to Waterloo in 1945 and the arrival of son Gordon Ross on November 26, 1947 provided a wonderfully new and busy dimension to Marg's life. She, by this time, was a full time home provider. Margaret joined the local University Women's Club; the Freeport Hospital Auxiliary, the Red Cross and First United Church Women's Associations. The following years produced many highlights - The Harris and Voelker families were a fifty year source of great times; the annual get together with the New Years Gang at Bordmans or Forest Brook; great times with friends and relatives at the hobby farm Forest Brook . Marg identified over 90 varieties of wild flowers at Forest Brook property in Varney. A ten year interlude was spent in Don Mills, again making wonderful friends, where a handwork group showed many creative skills, especially with rug hooking. Back in Waterloo, 15 years each were spent at Old Post Road and Water Park Condo. Margaret loved colour, home decoration and flowers. Margaret was the mainstay of 64 years of married life, a time of accomplishments and happiness. The memorial service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held at Erb Good Family Funeral Home Chapel, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Thursday, August 31 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Hawley as celebrant. Following the memorial service, friends are invited to join the family in the Funeral Home's Fireside Reception Room for refreshments and a time to visit. Condolences for the family and donations in lieu of flowers may be made to a charity of your choice and can be arranged through the funeral home 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com In living memory of Margaret, a tree will be planted through the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
