CAROL KACHAN URBAN (nee KOSTECKI) July 7, 1922 - August 28, 2006 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Carol Urban on Monday, August 28, 2006 at the Grace Hospital. Left with fond memories her husband Lawrence; son Marshall Kachan, Darlene Kachan; grandchildren, Melissa Hartrick (Abram), Louise Kostyniuk (Dwayne), Erica Kachan (Chris) and Nathan Kachan; great-granddaughter McKenzie; her brothers and sisters, Helen Seignuer, John Kostecki (Mary), Angela Ryshytylo, Anthony Kostecki (Mary-Lou), Morley Kostecki (Iris) and Michael Kostecki (Myrna); and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Very special in Carol's heart were her step-children, Laurie Urban (Teresa Hallas), Candace Fontaine (Paul) and Christine Urban; and her step-grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Urban, Nicole Lavoie (Mark) and Sonya and Donovan Fontaine. Carol was predeceased by her parents, Michael Kostecki and Palazia Kuz; her first husband William Kachan; brothers, Adam, Victor and Stanford Kostecki; and sister Louise Urban. Carol was born and raised in the Rossburn area and was known for her beautiful gardens, fantastic cooking skills, her hospitality and her enjoyment of family. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, September 1 at 11:00 a.m. in Blessed John XXIII Roman Catholic Church (Assiniboia Christian Centre), 3390 Portage Ave. (corner of Portage Avenue and Rouge Road) with Rev. Msgr. Maurice Comeault, P.H.,V.F. presiding. Interment will be held in Rossburn, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol's memory may be made to the Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7.
