JACK PEARSON LIVINGSTONE Jack Livingstone, loving husband of Janet Livingstone passed away peacefully on August 30, 2006 at the Maples Personal Care Home at the age of 87. Dad was born on August 17, 1919 in Scotland to Elizabeth and Jack Livingstone. Dad's father died 6 months prior to his birth. At the age of 6 months he immigrated with his mother, brother and sister to Winnipeg where he lived for the rest of his life. His mother married Bill Hamilton when Dad was 12 years of age. Dad was employed by Ashdown Hardware for 29 years. After his career with Ashdown's he went on to work for E. A. Tipping and Bisset and Webb retiring at the age of 66, after which he volunteered at Avenue Jewellers. Dad was a member of North Kildonan United Church as well as Canadian Order of Foresters. During the Second World War, Dad served in the Navy, stationed in Prince Rupert, Victoria and Vancouver. Dad was involved for many years with baseball, golf, curling and bowling. Jack married Janet McFadzean on September 29, 1941 and they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary later this month. Jack and Janet had three sons, David, Ian and Bruce. Jack is survived by his loving wife Janet; and his three sons and their families, David (Esther), Ian (Jack McDowell) and Bruce (Barbara); grandchildren, Darrell (Michelle), Denise Medeiros, Sheila (Earl) Kellington and Abby Rushton; great-grandchildren, Taylor Medeiros, Gavin and Sarah Livingstone, Ethan and Trinity Rushton. Also surviving is sister-in-law Doreen Livingstone, as well as his nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his father Jack Livingstone; his mother and stepfather, Elizabeth and Bill Hamilton; brother Bill; sister Margaret Baker; and nephews, John Baker and Richard Livingstone. There will be a private family interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, September 5 at 11:30 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at North Kildonan United Church, 174 Pentland St. at 1:00 p.m with Rev. Marc Whitehead officiating. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers donations to the North Kildonan United Church, A/C Fund, 174 Pentland St., Winnipeg, MB R2G 2S3 would be graciously appreciated.
