Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAKIRA FURUTANI Peacefully, on Monday evening, August 28, 2006, our father and husband passed on. Born on September 27, 1933 in New Westminster, BC, Akira and his family were moved to Manitoba after the war. It was here he met and married his bride of over fifty years in November of 1954. Akira and his wife Virginia (Ray) raised five children: Aaron, David, Keith, James and Wendy (Coleman) and have seven grandchildren. In addition, Akira is survived by his sisters, Shizuko (Kawata), Tamaye (Yagi), Clara (Mar); and his brother Donald and their families. His ashes were interned at Chapel Lawn on Thursday afternoon, August 31, in a private graveside service officiated by Reverend Masaki. Akira was an intelligent, hardworking, helpful and honest man who always enjoyed solving problems and it seemed his greatest joy was listening and advising his children and others as they worked through their own challenges. We will miss him dearly and hopefully will honour his life by living out the values he taught us.
