VERA SMITH Peacefully on September 1, 2006, at Seven Oaks Hospital, Vera Smith, beloved wife of Edward, passed away at the age of 77. Besides her husband, Vera is survived by son Randy of Winnipeg; daughter Holly (Bruce) Proctor of Calgary; grandchildren, Shawn (Cathy), Justin, Christopher (Kelly) and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Kirsten, Colton, Tristen, Chantelle, Ashley, Kaitlyn and Riley; sisters, Betty Borger of Dryden, Millie Borger of Red Lake, and Pat Lamers of Thunder Bay, and brother Wilfred (Niney) Bender of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by brothers, Henry Hank and Clarence Bender. Vera worked at the Canadian Wheat Board for over 25 years until her retirement. Vera was a family pillar of strength who was always on hand with a witty saying, wise intuition and insightful conversation. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved gatherings with family and friends. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street at Inkster. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery.
