Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPEARL MCCORQUODALE (nee CARTHER) Pearl McCorquodale widow of Wilfred Corky passed away peacefully on September 1, 2006 at the age of 94. Pearl was the daughter of George and Viola Carther of Carman, MB. She was the first born of 11 children, a beautiful birthday gift born on her mothers 20th birthday, April 4, 1912. She had a happy childhood with many fond memories of growing up in Carman in a big loving family. Pearl was predeceased by her husband Wilfred in 1979; her grandson Clinton Lott in 1976; her parents George and Viola Carther; brothers, Telford and Glen Carther and sisters Melba Thom and Evelyn Gladstone. Pearl will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family; son Kenton; daughters, Melba, Gay (Jack), Lynne (Bob); her dear grandchildren Gary (Darlene), Grant (Yvonne), Brent (Jaik) Jodene, Douglas, Corinne (Paul), Matthew (Francine), Daniel and Laura; great grandchildren James, Jennifer, Stephanie, Robert, Meg, Kenton, Matthew and little Evelyn. She also leaves to cherish her memory her dear friend Charles Prager of over 21 years; two devoted brothers Reg Carther of Winnipeg and Elmer Carther (Isabel) of Fort Erie; 3 dear sisters, Doreen Nicklen (Don) of Vancouver, Cora Moffatt (Lloyd) of Welland and Shirley Connors and husband; brother-in-law Joe Gladstone; sister-in-law Louise Carther as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Pearl was an easy going, fun loving mother and grandmother. We have many fond memories of our summer vacations all together at Lake Florence, Winnitoba, sun tanning, reading, swimming, playing games with much laughter in the evenings, devouring lots of popcorn. After raising her children she started work at the then new Polo Park Shopping Centre at Eatons Dept. Store, she loved it and blossomed as a career lady, until her retirement at age 70. Shortly after, she and Dad started traveling to St. Petersburg, Florida for winter vacations. She quickly became a snow bird and spent wonderful winters in St. Pete's for over 20 years with great enjoyment. Mom enjoyed pretty good health until a week ago when she suffered a stroke. She had just the week before, been to her brother Reg's 91st birthday party with lots of family and fun. The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge and the doctors and nurses on the 5th floor, Grace Hospital for their wonderful care, compassion and support. According to Pearl's wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 7 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pearl's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, R3C 2B7. CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715
