ANN (MCTAVISH) BIEBER On Sept. 2, 2006, Ann Fraser Munro Hall McTavish Bieber passed away peacefully with family at her bedside. Ann was pre-deceased by her husbands Dr. Bill McTavish and Gordon Bieber, brother Andy Hall and sister Marnie McLean. Ann's memory will live on through her sons Jamie (Wanda), John (Donna), Gordon (Cheryl) and Bill (Pierrette). She will also fondly be remembered by the Bieber family; Andy (Diane), Adrienne (Bruce) Allistair (Pat), grandchildren John, Heather, Sean, Colin, Chelsea, Alan, Reid, Angela, Kelsey, Matthew, Malorie, Andrew, Andrea, Meghan and great grandchildren Matthew, Ethan, Simon and McKenna. Mom was born on Oct. 21, 1925 to Andrew and Lily Hall in Winnipeg. She attended Lord Selkirk School and graduated from University of Manitoba in 1947 with a degree in Science where she was senior lady stick. This led her to work with Dr. Chown in the Rhlab which she found very rewarding. Ann married Bill McTavish on Sept. 10, 1948 with whom she lovingly raised 4 sons. She was an incredible woman completely devoted to her husband and family. She supported Bill through his medical schooling and career, living in Veteran's Village in the early years and later worked at his practice in Elmwood. Ann took great pride and an active role in the community as a school trustee in River East school division from 1968-1971. In 1972 Ann ran as the Liberal candidate under Izzy Asper in the Elmwood constituency and organized Pierre Trudeau's visit to Manitoba during the same campaign. She was also on the boards of Concordia Hospital, Middlechurch Home and the National Sports Federation. Family and friends enjoyed much laughter and many fun filled times at Neil Place, the family cottages in Keewatin and Victoria Beach as well as on their travels. Ann had an incredible knack for making friends and keeping in touch with them throughout her lifetime. Relationships were always maintained whether close to home or throughout the world. Mom was also the greatest curling fan who enthusiastically followed her husband, sons and grandchildren through their many curling competitions, provincial, national and world championships, bonspiels and antics. In all the years the boys competed in the Christmas Jr. Bonspiel, she never missed a game. This last year was a trying one with the illnesses Mom faced, but she never skipped a beat. She celebrated her 80th birthday with family and friends, watched Jamie, Gordie, John and Alan win the Ford event in the MCA bonspiel, in which Bill participated by throwing the ceremonial first rock. She also traveled to Ottawa with John, Donna, and Colin to see Sean graduate from university and enjoyed her summer at V.B. Throughout adversity she always saw the positive and planned ahead for the future. Ann married Gordon Bieber on October 12, 1991 and enjoyed 13 wonderful years of marriage, her new extended family, travel, friendships, many new experiences and special times. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the doctors and staff of the Women's Hospital and Cancer Care Manitoba. Very special thanks to Dr. Garry Krepart, Dr. Bob Lotocki, and Irene, who took care of Mom for over 22 years as well as the guardian angels who compassionately looked after Mom in her final hours, Allison, Marriana, Lilly, Krista, Myrna and Belinda. A memorial service will be held Thursday September 7, 2006 at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway at 10a.m.with reception to follow.
