Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY (PEGGY) MARY JOSEPHINE LAWSON On Saturday, September 2, 2006, at home, Peggy passed away, following a two month hospitalization due to a broken hip. She was 91. Born in Winnipeg on May 5, 1915, to Edith and Walter Lawson, Peggy attended Rupertsland School followed by two years of University. During the Second World War, Peggy was proud to be a Lieutenant in the WRENS (Signals). She was stationed during 1942 -1945, in Ottawa and Vancouver. Returning to Winnipeg, Peggy led an active life, highlighted by her love of animals and golf. She was a member to St. Charles Golf and Country Club for many years. Her love of animals led her to support the World Wildlife Fund Canada, Nature Conservancy Canada, the Winnipeg Humane Society and the Fort Whyte Centre, of which she was a lifelong member. She was a passionate bird watcher, often driving around the city and countryside with her binoculars and bird guides. Peggy welcomed visitors (human and animal) to her home and always had cat and dog treats and squeeky toys for the furry ones to enjoy! If humans were lucky-a wee scotch might have been the order of the day! Peggy is survived by her cousin Gilbert Burns of Framington, MA. Cremation has occurred and according to her wishes, there will be no service. A private interment and gathering will be held. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations to the above charities or charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated. Special thanks to all of you who were there for Peggy. You know who you are. Special thanks to C.H. Health Services for their compassionate care while at home. Pat the puppy dog for me! THOMSON IN THE PARK FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 MCGILLIVRAY BLVD WWW.THOMSONINTHEPARK.COM 925-1120
