DONALD JOSEPH MARSH JONES It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Donald on Sunday, September 3, 2006 at Deer Lodge Centre. Don recently celebrated his 91st birthday. Left to mourn are his son Rick (Nicole) and children Monica and Aaron; his daughter Helen and children Ryan and Sean. He was predeceased by his faithful wife Barbara Ruth Jones Don enjoyed many hobbies especially gardening, cooking and building things; a family man who enjoyed his home life. Donald had fond ties with the staff and students at Governor Semple School and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #30 Dad served in the Second World War from September 5, l939 to September 30, l945. His tour of duty included being stationed in Britain and continued into the North West European Theatre. On D-Day, June 6, 1944, he landed at Juno Beach and served our country proud. Donald's funeral service will be held on Friday, September 8 at 1:30 p.m. in Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Ave. (corner of Mount Royal Road and Ness Avenue). For those who wish, parking will be available in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church parking lot located on Ness Avenue. Interment will be held in Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Ave. A Special Thank you to the nursing and medical staff at Deer Lodge - 4th floor West Wing Respiratory Unit, for their excellent care and empathy shown to Don during his difficult time Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Donald's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. A light from the family is gone A voice we loved is stilled A place is vacant in the home Which never can be filled We have to mourn the loss of one We would've loved to keep But God who surely loved him best Has finally made him sleep.
