ADINA KEBERNIK May 25, 1922- September 3, 2006 Adina, who was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Richard, in 2000 and their son Fred in 1985, died on September 3 at East-Gate Lodge in Beausejour. Despite the devastating and ever worsening effects of osteoarthritis over the past several decades, she remained a woman of amazing determination and resolve, who until suffering a stroke in August 2002, maintained her own home, managed her personal affairs, and provided excellent guidance to her children and grandchildren. For the past several years she was a resident of East-Gate Lodge where the care she received was outstanding. In addition to the staff at East-Gate Lodge, the family also wishes to thank her physician, Dr. Zeiler, and would also like to acknowledge the excellent long-term care system available to Manitobans. Born in Wolynia Poland, Adina married Richard in 1939. Caught up in the horrors and destruction of the Second World War and the aftermath of forced labour until 1950, they arrived as refugees in Westphalia, Germany in 1952, where they resided until immigrating to Canada in 1959. After living in Winnipeg for seven years, they moved to the Beausejour area in 1966 where, they continued to operate a cattle farm up until close to the time of Richard's death in 2000. Left to cherish her memories are her sons Helmut (Elizabeth) and Vern (Sharon); daughter-in-law, Ann; grandchildren James (Robyn), Owen (April), Amy (Thomas), Leah (Sean), Kristin (Don), Jeannine (Aaron) and Katrina (Ronnie); her brother, Reinhard Tischer and sister Emma Lippert. Adina will be remembered by her children and grandchildren as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who worked selflessly in partnership with her husband Richard to provide for her children and grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m, Friday, September 8, at the Zion Lutheran Church, 403 First St., in Beausejour, MB with Pastor Hugh Laidlaw officiating. Interment in the Parish Cemetery. RUSSELL'S of Beausejour, Manitoba are in care of arrangements. Call 1-866-424-6271 toll free or 204 268-2263.
