MINA STEVENSON (nee MAYHAM) April 30, 1951 - September 5, 2006 Suddenly, on Tuesday, September 5, 2006, Mina Stevenson of Peguis, MB left us to be with our Lord and Creator at 1:29 a.m. at the Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. Mina will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 34 years, Wilfred Stevenson; daughter Kimberly Stevenson and son Timothy Stevenson. Mina leaves to mourn, her father Zacharias Mayham; sisters, Maggie (Terry) Garson of Fox Lake, Maria Mayham of Gillam, Edna Mayham of Winnipeg, Sandra Mayham of Thompson, Isabel (John) Peters of Gillam; brothers, Raymond (Vivian) Mayham of Fox Lake, Stephen (Karen) Mayham of Thompson and Roger Mayham of Gillam. Also left to mourn and cherish her memory, her grandchildren, Nikosis, Minonah, Brayden, and Harmony; and her godchildren, Chakotay Kirkness, Mira Spence and Clayton Stevenson. She leaves to mourn, her family from Peguis, numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives throughout Manitoba. Mina was predeceased by her mother Beth Mayham; brothers, Christopher, David and Zach Mayham; father-in-law Michael Stevenson; mother-in-law Annie Stevenson; brother-in-law David Stevenson and nephews, Terry Garson and Fraser Stevenson. Mina was born in Split Lake, MB. She moved with her family to the railway line and later attended school in Brandon and Dauphin, MB. As a young adult, she moved to various locations to enhance her employability skills. In 1969, she met and married her loving husband Wilfred and together they raised their two beautiful children. Mina worked in many occupations mostly in the helping field in Vancouver and Winnipeg. While in Peguis, she worked with Child and Family Services, later completing her Bachelor of Indian Social Work at the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College in Saskatoon, SK. Mina had very strong faith, she loved and praised our Lord always. Mina loved to pray for her family and friends, wishing the best for everyone. Mom had many friends whom she would talk to on the phone, often sharing stories of courage and fun times. She will be deeply missed and remembered by everyone who knew her. Wake services will be held in Peguis on Thursday and Friday, September 7 and 8 at 7:00 p.m. at All Saints Anglican Church. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 9 with viewing from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and service to begin at 2:00 p.m. at All Saints Anglican Church, followed by interment at St. Peters Anglican Cemetery. We want to acknowledge and thank everyone who offered comfort and assistance during this difficult period, the doctors and nursing staff of Seven Oaks Hospital, Chief and Council of Peguis and Chief and Council of Fox Lake.
