PETER WARKENTIN At the age of 74, after a courageous battle with cancer, Peter passed away peacefully at the Riverview Health Center to be with his Lord and Saviour. He is predeceased by his parents, Cornelius C. and Tina; brother John; several in-laws, nephews and a grandson. His memory will be lovingly cherished by his wife of 46 years, Marge (nee Reimer); son Wayne (Esther), grandchildren, Ainslee, Carson and Kaden; daughter Cara Duncan (Paul), and grandsons, Brayden and Grayson. Also sisters, Kay Gionet, Anne Zacharias (Peter), Helene Borne, Bette Zacharias; and brothers, Walter (Doris), Ed (Helen), Ken (Barb); brother-in-law Neil Zacharias; and numerous nieces and nephews. Peter was born in Morden, MB on November 30, 1931 and moved to Fort Whyte in 1963. He married Marge in 1960 and worked as a crane operator for several companies including Commonwealth Construction, Bestland, B B, American Metal and ManDak. He also operated his own crane service and did custom hoisting for many companies including Reimer Express Lines, Canadian Freightways and Canadian Great Western. His hobbies included bee-keeping, crossword puzzles, playing chess, checkers and scrabble. Viewing will be held Thursday, September 7 7:00 8:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street. Funeral service will be on Friday, September 8 at 11:00 am. at Whyte Ridge Baptist Church, 201 Scurfield Blvd. with interment to follow at 3:30 p.m. in the Fairview Cemetery at Roland. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at the Riverview Health Centre (wing 3E) and his WRHA Home Care Nurses. Dear Auntie Marge, Thinking of you now, I remember many gatherings at your house with homemade pies and Uncle Pete sitting in his chair always happy.
