HOWARD WILLIAM KEMP 1924 2006 On Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at Boundary Trails Health Centre, Howard William Kemp, aged 81 years, passed away peacefully after short battle with cancer. His life will be lovingly remembered and cherished by his wife, Lois (nee Anderson) of Morden; two daughters, Brenda and Craig Storey of Darlingford (Dallas, Amber), Gail and Ray Baloun of Minnedosa (Brett and Jason Sweezy, Carly); one son, Brian and Lori Kemp of Lauder, MB (Devin, Kyle, Travis, Ashlan). He is also remembered by three sisters, Audrey Kemp and Helen Galbraith both of Broadview, SK and Lillian Powell of Three Hills, AB; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbors. He was predeceased by his parents; brother Clarence; and sister Ethel. Howard was born December 25, 1924 to Errol and Ruby (nee Thompson) Kemp on the family farm in the Stoughton, SK area. After the death of his father and at the young age of 14, he became responsible for the family farm. The wheat fields of the prairies grew to be his career as he became an elevator operator and the district manager for N.M. Paterson Grain in Saskatchewan and Manitoba before retiring in 1988. Howard and Lois celebrated 55 years of marriage on August 10, 2006. He led a full life and enjoyed a wide circle of friends at the curling rink and at the old time dances that he and Lois attended throughout the area. After retirement, he spent many enjoyable hours on Brenda and Craig's farm, tinkering in the shop or helping in the fields. Howard also spent many retirement days fixing lawn mowers and small engines and often had spare equipment for sale on the front lawn of their home. A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, September 9, at 2:00 p.m. at Westside Community Church, 831 Thornhill St., Morden, MB. Interment will follow at Chapel Cemetery. We would like to thank the doctors and staff at Boundary Trails Health Centre for the care and compassion during Howard's stay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Howard's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0B9.
